Exploring Singapore
Orchard Road is Singapore’s entertainment and shopping hub. It is regularly frequented by locals as well as tourists. The street is named for the nutmeg, pepper and fruit orchards that used to lie on either side of the street in the 1800s. Today the area contains numerous restaurants, cafes and nightclubs. It is also home to the Istana, the official residence of the President of Singapore.
